How to Play Badugi Poker

Badugi is not like other poker games and is an unusual draw poker. Each player will receive four cards and the game is played for low hands instead of high hands. Badugi poker also has three drawing rounds.

The best hand that you are able to get in Badugi poker is Ace-2-3-4 that are of four different suits.

You will need a 52 card deck and chips to bet with.

How to Play Badugi Poker

  1. Each player is dealt four cards which are face down. Once the players have checked their hands a round of betting will occur.
  2. Once the betting is complete, the players are allowed to choose up to four cards to discard and then draw new cards. You are then able to exchange cards or keep the cards that you were dealt.
  3. Once the players have received their new cards, they will bet again. The second round is where players are able to draw cards and then there is another round of betting. There is a final draw round followed by the final betting.
  4. The players will then reveal their hands and the winner is determined.

The Hands

You need to make a four card hand where you will have four cards that are different suits and ranks. You will need to get the 4 lowest cards of different suits. If you have two of the same card but they are different suits it becomes a three card hand and the same applies if you have two different value cards but they are the same suits. A 4 card hand will always beat a 3 card hand.
